Educator of Excellence Award Luncheon

You're invited! Join us at the March meeting of the IHS Alumni Association where we will recognize the accomplishments and achievements of Danielle Renton and Joan Mencil, the 2022 Educator of Excellence award winners.
Ms. Renton began her career teaching at Independence in 1991 and continues teaching mainly science and ELA at the fifth grade level at the Independence Middle School. She is the 2019 recipient of the Ohio Middle School Association Regional Award.

 Ms. Mencl retired from teaching after 35 years and continues serving the community as President of the Independence Local School's Board of Education.

The meeting, our only luncheon event of the year, will be held in the Media Center at Independence High School. The inspiring award ceremony will be followed by a light lunch and time to mix and mingle. Mark Your Calendar--Upcoming Meetings & Important Dates
The Alumni Association meets the second Monday of the month, four times each year, in March, June, September and November.

Donations and memorabilia
We are always looking for memorabilia from your high school years. If you have rings, class photos, yearbooks from 1926 thru 1928, 1931 thru 1944, 1946 thru 1951, 1992 and 1994, or other related items you would like to donate to the Alumni Association, please email the Alumni Association at Alumni Association .

Current active members represent graduates from the Class of 1942 to 2021.
Annually, the Association Awards two $500.00 Graduating Senior Awards; Presents an Annual Gift to Independence High School from $500.00 to $1,500.00; Supports the Graduating Class Yearbook ($350.00); Recognizes one or more teaches as an "Educator of Excellence".
Our 2022 donation goal is $3,500.00
You do not have to be an IHS graduate to donate. Graduates, parents, friends and businesses are all welcome!
